Sports Day
Last Friday, our pupils, across the school, competed in our annual Sports Day, competing in various athletic events for their Houses. We were delighted to invite parents to watch the afternoon of events which started with the Year 7/Thirds Cheerleading competition, won by Tyrconnell House. We then had a great competition across both track and field events, with several records broken across the year groups. Well done to the pupils who secured personal bests and records. We finished the competition with House relays in all age groups, as well as the staff/Lower 6 relay which is always an exciting race to watch.
The pupil body demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship and support to their friends and Houses, really demonstrating one of our school values ,we lift each other up’. Overall, Holles House won Sports Day. Thanks also to the parents that came to support, we hope you enjoyed your afternoon.
Well done to all who competed.
Parent- Daughter Tennis tournament
On Saturday, we held our annual Parent and Daughter Tennis Tournament. This is always a highly enjoyable event, and once again the weather was in our favour, to allow play on our wonderful grass courts.
The morning began with three pools, with all pairs competing in a round-robin format over a set period of time. The standard of tennis on display was fantastic, and the results in each pool were incredibly close. Pool A was particularly competitive, with just one point separating the top four pairs. The top two pairs from each pool progressed to the Trophy Competition. The remaining pairs continued in a separate round-robin, playing against corresponding teams from the other pools.
It was definitely a day for daughter’s and their fathers with many duos winning their competitions.
Congratulations to the winners of the Year 7/Thirds Pool Competition:
• Pool 3 – Joanne and her father
• Pool 4 – Marina and her father
• Pool 5 – Emmeline and her father
• Pool 6 – Olivia and her father
In the Trophy Competition, the following pairs qualified for the quarter-finals: Lara, Soraya, Aanya, Josephine, Camilla and Scarlett, all playing alongside their fathers. After a series of highly competitive matches, Lara, Josephine, Camilla and Scarlett advanced to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals produced some excellent tennis, leading to a final between Lara and father v Scarlett and father with Lara duo being crowned overall champions. Father-daughter pair: Josephine finished in third place, with Camilla and her father fourth.
Cricket
The U12 hard ball and soft ball cricket teams travelled to compete against Latymer Upper on Saturday. The teams showed great control with their bowling, decisive play with the bat, and enthusiasm in the field. The U12As chased down the score set by Latymer Upper earning the win. The U12Bs bowled a whole game without a wide, earning the win also. The U12Cs showed a great attitude and made massive improvements in their gameplay. Well done to all on fantastic matches.
