See the world differently

Art at LEH provides girls with exciting new ways to engage with their world. Our lessons go far beyond technique. They spark creativity, critical thinking, emotional insight, cultural curiosity, and visual literacy – skills that transcend the studio and enrich every subject.

Art

Our curriculum is designed to help students make sense of what they see and hear, communicate what they think and feel, and bring to life what they imagine. We encourage awareness and empathy, helping pupils understand their own sense of identity, value and self-expression, as they develop personal responsibility within the school and the wider community.

Art at LEH is a shared journey of exploration. Together, students experiment boldly, take creative risks, reflect deeply, and refine their ideas. Through this process, they discover new ways to communicate and powerful new ways to connect.

Middle School Art

Middle School Art provides students with opportunities to explore, experiment, and develop their creative voices in a supportive and inspiring environment. Through a wide range of projects, materials, and artistic processes, students are encouraged to think imaginatively, solve problems creatively, and express their ideas with confidence.

Our curriculum celebrates individuality and curiosity, helping students to build technical skills while exploring personal interests, cultural perspectives, and contemporary issues. Students learn to observe, reflect, take creative risks, and embrace challenges, understanding that growth often comes through experimentation and perseverance.

In an increasingly digital world, creativity remains one of the most important skills young people can develop. Art encourages students to communicate visually, think critically, appreciate diverse viewpoints, and engage with the world around them in meaningful ways. The work produced throughout Middle School reflects not only artistic achievement but also the imagination, resilience, and unique perspectives of our students as they grow into confident and thoughtful creators.

The course is broad based and encourages the use of a wide range of technical processes and creative media. We foster critical and reflective thinkers who will develop a personal knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary practice of Art, Craft and Design within the context of their own work. We nurture an environment of risk taking, resilience, commitment, imaginative and creative self-discovery.

Art Textiles

In Textiles, creativity meets craftsmanship. Pupils step into the world of the designer–maker, exploring how textiles shape everything from high fashion and interiors to cutting-edge materials and sustainable design. They research inspiring artists and designers, experiment with fabrics, fibres, and techniques, and develop their own original ideas into highly skilled final pieces. With a focus on innovation, upcycling, and sustainability, Textiles encourages pupils to think boldly, design responsibly, and bring their creative visions to life.
