Last week we started our 26/27 Joint Sixth Form Enrichment Programme with our Lower Sixth students attending a joint talk and workshop focused on driving awareness and road safety education at Hampton School.
Hosted in Hampton’s Hammond Theatre, the session was led by Walé Yusuff, founder of SAME Academy, who delivered an engaging and informative presentation designed to help young people become more aware and responsible road users.
With many of our Lower Sixth students either just beginning their driving journeys, preparing to learn, or already gaining experience behind the wheel, the session provided practical advice that was relevant to everyone. Walé explored a range of important topics, including the points system and black box insurance, helping students to understand some of the responsibilities and considerations that come with driving.
The talk was particularly valuable because it went beyond simply discussing the mechanics of driving. Road safety is about awareness, judgement and responsibility, and the session encouraged students to think carefully about the decisions they make on the road and the potential consequences of those decisions. Having the opportunity to hear directly from someone with expertise in road safety provided an excellent foundation. At the same time, those who already have experience of driving were able to develop their understanding of issues that may not always be covered in the practical process of learning to drive.
The Hampton School Partnership
The session also provided a valuable opportunity for our students to come together with pupils from Hampton School as part of a broader programme of joint educational and enrichment activities. These opportunities allow students to learn from expert speakers while also sharing ideas and experiences with their peers beyond the classroom.
We would like to thank Walé Yusuff for such an engaging and thought-provoking introduction to our Enrichment programme, and Hampton School for hosting us. It was a hugely positive way to begin this new programme, and we are very much looking forward to continuing our wider educational activities throughout the year.
