Outstanding Language skills on display
We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Vaanika S, who has been commended as a national runner-up for French-English Level 2 in the prestigious Anthea Bell Translation Competition.
The competition, named in honour of the acclaimed translator Anthea Bell, celebrates the art and skill of translation and encourages young people to engage creatively and thoughtfully with languages. Translation is about far more than simply finding equivalent words in another language; it requires a deep understanding of meaning, tone, nuance and cultural context. Translators must make careful choices to ensure that the spirit and character of the original text are conveyed clearly and naturally to a new audience.
To achieve national recognition in such a competition is a fantastic accomplishment. Vaanika’s success reflects not only her strong command of both French and English, but also her ability to appreciate the subtleties of language and communicate them with precision and creativity.
The French-English Level 2 category provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their developing translation skills while engaging with the challenges of moving meaning between two languages. Being selected as a national runner-up places Vaanika among some of the strongest young language students taking part across the country.
