Students showcased imagination, teamwork and House pride in a vibrant competition celebrating the centenary of Sir David Attenborough.
Creativity flourished across LEH as students from every year group came together for this year’s House Flag Competition, producing a stunning collection of designs inspired by the centenary of Sir David Attenborough.
Designed to celebrate both artistic expression and House spirit, the competition challenged each House to interpret the theme in its own distinctive way. The result was an impressive display of imagination, collaboration and craftsmanship, with every design reflecting the talents and ideas of students working together across the school.
Judging the competition proved no easy task. Each of the four final designs demonstrated originality, thoughtful symbolism and a strong sense of House identity, making the standard exceptionally high.
Tyrconnel impressed with a striking rainforest design that captured the different layers of the forest from a bird’s-eye perspective. The creative composition, featuring a beautifully illustrated tiger, offered a fresh and engaging interpretation of the natural world.
De Vere’s entry celebrated the strength of House identity through bold symbolism and a confident design that reflected pride in the House community.
Holles took a distinctive approach with a bold monochromatic design inspired by Under the Sea. The careful craftsmanship and attention to detail created a visually powerful flag that immediately caught the judges’ attention.
The eventual winners, Fitzwilliam, captivated the judging panel with their dramatic urban landscape. Their imaginative concept combined eye-catching artwork with clever design features, including the use of the FITZ letters across the four-grid group designs and striking dragon imagery that brought the final flag to life.
With just four points separating the top entries, the competition was one of the closest in recent years.

🥉 Joint 3rd – De Vere and Holles
Beyond the final rankings, the competition celebrated far more than artistic talent. It showcased collaboration across year groups, thoughtful responses to an inspiring environmental theme and the enthusiasm with which students embraced the challenge.
