Athletics team impresses in national final while young golfer shines against older competitors
Athletics
It has been another successful week for LEH sport, with students delivering outstanding performances in both athletics and golf.
On Monday, the Intermediate Girls athletics team travelled to Woodside Stadium in Watford to compete in the prestigious Track and Field Cup A Final. The event brought together some of the strongest school athletes in the region, creating a highly competitive environment and providing an exciting challenge for all involved.
Each athlete competed in both a track and a field event, contributing valuable points towards the team’s overall score. The standard of competition was exceptionally high, pushing every competitor to perform at their very best. Throughout the day, the LEH athletes demonstrated determination, resilience and team spirit, supporting one another while striving for personal and team success.
Special congratulations go to Maya and Esme, who each achieved an impressive 23 points in their respective events, the High Jump and 800m. Their performances were among the highlights of the day and reflected the hard work and commitment shown throughout the season. The final provided a fitting conclusion to an excellent athletics campaign, and all members of the team should be proud of their achievements.
Borough Golf Tournament
The sporting successes continued on Tuesday when Thirds pupil Amala Sen represented LEH at the Borough Golf Tournament held at Fulwell Golf Club. Competing a year group above her age against Year 8 and Year 9 students, Amala faced a strong field of 27 competitors.
Showing excellent skill, focus and composure, Amala produced a superb performance, recording an impressive 31 points under the Stableford scoring system. Her score secured first place within her group, a remarkable achievement given the strength and experience of the opposition.
Congratulations to Amala and the Intermediate Girls athletics team on their fantastic accomplishments and for representing LEH with such distinction.
