Pride, Passion and Team GB
Three former LEH pupils are set to represent Team GB Lacrosse at the 2026 World Cup in Tokyo this July, highlighting the strength of LEH’s sporting programme and the opportunities available to students who aspire to compete at the highest level.
Hannah Thurston (Class of 2018), Cece Green (Class of 2018) and Charlie Wilson (Class of 2019) will compete on the international stage as part of Team GB, marking a remarkable achievement in journeys that began on the playing fields at LEH. Their success reflects not only individual talent and determination, but also the school’s long-standing commitment to developing confident, ambitious young women through sport.
All three were part of a hugely successful era for LEH lacrosse, including the memorable National Schools Lacrosse Championship-winning team of 2018. That squad helped establish a culture of excellence within the programme that continues to inspire students today, supported by expert coaching, high-performance opportunities and a strong focus on teamwork, resilience and leadership.
Richard Lalor, LEH’s Director of Performance Sport and Team GB Lacrosse Women’s Performance Lead, said:
“It’s amazing to have three LEH alumnae in one squad – it’s a real inspiration for current LEH students! With Tokyo this summer and the first-ever Sixes European Championship in Salou this November, it’s a very exciting time for lacrosse!”
Sport at LEH is about much more than results. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves, build confidence, support one another and pursue their ambitions both on and off the pitch. The journeys of Hannah, Cece and Charlie reflect these values clearly, as all three now balance elite international sport with demanding professional careers.
After leaving LEH, Hannah Thurston continued both her academic and sporting career at Duke University in the United States, competing in the highly competitive NCAA Division I system while pursuing her studies. She has since progressed into senior international lacrosse, representing both England and Great Britain.
Charlie Wilson has also become an established presence within the England and Great Britain set-up, recognised for her consistency and composure at international level. Earlier this year, she returned to LEH to present the current 1st Lacrosse Team with their National Schools Lacrosse Championship trophy, providing current students with a powerful example of where dedication and hard work can lead.
