Public Schools’ Fencing Championships 2026

Twelve of our current Fencing Squad took part in this year’s highly prestigious two-day Public Schools’ Fencing Championships alongside over 100 other schools from the length and breadth of the UK. In the competition’s Trophy Race, we came sixth for the Lady Eleanor Holles Cup, for girls’ schools fielding fencing squads with less than 15 weapon entries or fewer.

This is only our fourth major fencing competition since the pandemic and this is the first time eight of these fencers have officially competed against other schools, many of whom fielded seasoned fencers and many with national rankings and Team GBR representation. Special thanks to Year 10 pupil, Eliana who acted as a referee for the second day of competition and also represents the British Fencing Team GBR in international competitions. Coaches, Antonio and James, and Miss Wright are so proud of what they all achieved this week! Congratulations and well done to the whole squad!

Girls’ Mount-Haes Foil

Sixty-five competitors took part.  Following her first outing to PSFC, Mali (Year 8) ranked 44th in the competition last year rose 15 places to 29th ranking against a difficult field of much older and experienced competitors.  A fantastic result!

Girls’ Junior Epée

Fifty-five competitors took part. Two students competed in two gruelling poules, with Fencing Captain, Chloe (Year 11), making it through to the dead elimination rounds.  Chloe made it through to the last 32 and ranked 22nd in the competition – a rise of 12 places from last year!

Girls’ Mount-Haes Epée

Sixty-eight competitors took part. Our nine entrants all competed in the first two poules and again, Mali with a different weapon, made it into the dead elimination rounds and finished the competition in 28th place – a staggering rise of 50 places from last year!
