On Tuesday, the Junior School came together for its inaugural House Choral Competition, with each house competing for the prestigious Choral Cup in a joyful celebration of music and performance.
The day began with a special assembly led by guest soprano Corinne Hart, who spoke to pupils about her life as a professional singer and the many roles she has performed both in the UK and internationally. She then captivated the audience with a stunning performance of “Vissi d’arte” from Tosca by Giacomo Puccini.
Following the assembly, each house took part in rehearsals led by their House and Games Captains. Corinne visited each group, offering expert advice and encouragement to help refine their performances and build confidence ahead of the competition.
After break, the whole Junior School gathered in the hall for the main event. Each house performed with enthusiasm and commitment, resulting in a closely contested competition that showcased the impressive musical talent across the School. After careful deliberation, Hackney House was announced as the winner of the Choral Cup.
While Hackney took the top prize, the real success of the morning was shared by all. Pupils and staff alike enjoyed a wonderful celebration of singing, teamwork and creativity, with Corinne praising the exceptionally high standard of performances throughout.
A fantastic new tradition has begun at the Junior School, and we look forward to many more years of House Choral Competition to come.
