Success at British Biology Olympiad

In February, over 18,800 Biology students from 1,132 schools took part in the prestigious British Biology Olympiad. Students completed two demanding 45-minute papers designed to test not only their A level Biology knowledge but also their ability to apply concepts well beyond the specification.

Aimed at the Upper 6, many of our Lower 6 pupils rose impressively to the challenge.  We are delighted to congratulate Lower 6 student, Sophie, who achieved a Gold award, placing her in the top 5% nationally! This is an exceptional accomplishment and clearly demonstrated her undoubted skill in thinking her way through challenging theories that she has yet to study. Her superb result means she will now sit a further paper for the chance to represent the UK at the International Biology Olympiad in Vilnius, Lithuania, this July.

Further congratulations go to Lara Antelo Miles (U6B) and Lexie Zubareva (L6E) for achieving Silver awards, placing them in the top 10% of the country, and to Jasmine Chahal (L6F) who earned a Bronze award which ranks her in the top 15%.

Well done to everyone who took part.
