Sporting Update: W/C 9th March 2026

Last week saw another busy and successful period for sport, with pupils representing the school across lacrosse, swimming, indoor cricket and netball competitions. From our amazing National Championship title at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships to impressive performances in the Bath Cup relays and strong showings at county netball finals and fixtures, our teams demonstrated determination, teamwork and resilience. Competing against tough opposition, pupils across all age groups rose to the challenge and should be extremely proud of their efforts and achievements.

Lacrosse

The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, U15A, U14A, U13A teams were away at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships last weekend and the start of this week. Over the weekend the 1st and 2nd team took part in the two-day tournament with both qualifying for the Championship knockout brackets in their respective tournaments. The 2nd team reached the quarterfinals, narrowly missing out by one goal.

The 1st team were successful in their seeding games on the first day, sending them through to the top tier of the competition the following day. They then went undefeated throughout the knockout stages, taking them through to the final against Godolphin School.  This was an exciting match and highly competitive between the two teams. We are delighted that our Senior 1sts went on to win the National Championship title with a 4-3 final score!  The team fully deserved the win having been committed to training and fixtures throughout the year.  We are delighted with the success they achieved and it is well deserved.

The 3rd team competed in their first national tournament finishing third In their group and earning a spot in the top knockout bracket, reaching the last 16.  The U15A played wonderful lacrosse topping their section and earned a top seed in the championship bracket. The team played brilliantly battling all the way to the semi-finals but beaten by the eventual champions. The U14s came third in their group amassing some brilliant performances and qualifying for the championship bracket reaching the last 16. This was the U13s first tournament and they took to section play well, going undefeated and topping their section and playing in the championship bracket reaching the last 16.

All the students and teams should be proud of their performances and successes during the National Schools Lacrosse Championship. I know we are! All the teams reached the top knockout bracket in their age groups for the second year in a row with one winner, one semi-final, one quarter finalist and three last 16s – a marvellous effort!

Swimming

We are very proud of our amazing swim squad who placed 15th in freestyle and 20th in the medley at the Bath Cup relays last Friday (large schools division).  With an average age of 13, Lily, Ananya, Sophia, Alice and Ekin exceeded expectations, competing as U18’s and performing very well against strong competition.  With many personal bests and a sub-two minute performance in the 4 x 50m freestyle, all swimmers performed at their best. Well done to the team – the future of LEH swimming is bright!

Netball

LEH v St George’s

The U15 A,B + C teams travelled to St George’s on Thursday for their Games afternoon. They faced the opposition and the elements, it being a very windy day. The A’s took a great win 23-16 as well as the C team, winning 13-5, the B’s took a loss but have lots to take away and improve on going into Saturday’s fixtures. It was great to be able to see the teams play. Well done to our players of the matches: Ceci, Ella, Kitty, Meri, Zoe and Amaya.

LEH v Surbiton High School

Our Senior 1st, 2nd and U16 netballers also played on Thursday against Surbiton High School. We had four competitive matches played in rather windy and wet weather, but our teams performed very well. We had two exciting matches for our U16s with many pupils taking the court and trying out new positions.  Our A team had a great game, winning 13-10, whilst the B team also played very well but sadly lost their match. Our Senior 1st team had a competitive match, performing well against a tough Surbiton side. They unfortunately lost this game despite some great defence and turnovers throughout the match. Our Senior 2nd team secured a strong win, playing consistently across the court. Well done to the teams and also to the players of the match: Josie, Amelia, Amy and Anushka.

Indoor Cricket

The U15 indoor cricket team travelled to Sir Richard Reynolds Catholic College (SRRCC), Twickenham, to play in the Borough indoor cricket final. The team batted with composure and ran smartly between the stumps setting a solid score for the SRRCC to chase. The team then bowled accurately and consistently to tie the opposition down to singles and pairs resulting in an LEH win. This is a great win for our cricketers and the team played brilliantly! Well done to the U15 team on a great success!
