What a week of sport! We ended last week with our Senior 1st lacrosse team made school history by securing their first ever South East Schools title followed by a week of successful fixtures across lacrosse, netball and indoor cricket, demonstrating skill, resilience and teamwork throughout. On the netball courts, convincing wins for our U14 teams and a dominant league performance from the Senior 2nds highlighted the depth of talent and determination on display. Meanwhile, the U15 indoor cricket team impressed by topping their group in the borough competition and progressing to the final. Congratulations to all players and coaches for their commitment and outstanding performances.
Lacrosse
South East Schools Lacrosse Finals
The Senior 1st lacrosse team travelled to Surrey Sports Park to take part in the South East Schools Lacrosse Finals on Sunday. In the group stage, LEH defeated Putney High School, Bedford and St Albans High School (SAHS) to earn the top seed and a bye to the quarterfinals of the Championship bracket. The team played with poise and controlled each game to secure maximum points. We then played North London Collegiate School (NLCS) in the quarter final. NLCS made it difficult for the team, but LEH pulled through with a 2-1 win. In the Semi Final, LEH had a rematch against SAHS. The team approached the game the same way they had all day and pulled away to a 7-2 win, earning a spot in the final against St Catherine’s, Bramley. The team played in a close and intense game but remained calm and poised, coming from behind to win 4-3, securing LEH’s first ever South East Schools lacrosse final title! The whole team contributed to the success on the day with stellar performances throughout. Amelia B was awarded the Most Value Player award and Kiki H earned the Dino Defensive Player Award. Congratulations to the team on this achievement and the validation for all their hard work this season.
LEH v Haberdashers Girls School
The U12-senior lacrosse teams travelled to Hertfordshire to face Haberdashers Girls School last Saturday. The weather held off long enough for all the games to go ahead with the use of some lovely blue astro. The 1st team game played on Friday did not avoid the downpour but all still played brilliantly. The teams on Saturday showed great chemistry with smart attacking play and forming solid defensive fronts. Our national teams are starting to finalise their style and plays in the build up to nationals. It was great to have the teams playing in tight contests and securing many wins.
Netball
LEH v Sir William Perkins’s School
On Monday we welcomed Sir William Perkins’s School to play against our U14 A-D teams. SWPS brought three teams, so our D team played their D team. All teams played well, resulting in very convincing wins for our A, B and C teams and one narrow defeat, losing only by one goal for our D team. Congratulations to all those who played. Our Players of the Matches were: Rhythm, Lara, Mahzala, Elsa, Shakti and Alisa.
LEH v Grey Court School
The Senior 2nds took to court on a cold Thursday evening to face Grey Court School in the Senior Borough Netball League. Whilst the conditions were not the most forgiving the team did well to persevere and take a convincing win. All players showed great teamwork and skill with the whole group contributing to the win. Well, done to opponent’s players of the match Lulu and coaches’ player of the match, Shimerin. The team look to take this confident play into the weekend fixture against Gordons School.
Indoor cricket
The U15 cricket team topped their group in the recent borough indoor cricket competition. The team with bat and ball played superbly and pulled away from the opposition. The team will play the winner of the other group to decide the U15 indoor cricket borough champions.
Well done to all our teams!
