Senior Sport

It’s been an action-packed week of sport at LEH, with our athletes showcasing determination, teamwork and outstanding skill across a range of competitions. From impressive cross-country performances in challenging conditions, to exciting netball and lacrosse fixtures, and strong results at the London Schools trampolining round, our students represented the school brilliantly. Here are the highlights from a fantastic week of sporting success.

Cross-Country

Our Junior (Thirds/Lower 4), Inter (Upper 4/Lower 5) and Senior (Upper 5/Lower 6) girls teams raced in the English Schools Cup Regional finals at Dulwich College on Monday. It was a very wet day and our Junior girls started off the day of races. The 2.4km course was fast and muddy – Alice B (Lower 4) ran a fantastic race and finished third overall. She was closely followed by the rest of the team who finished second overall which means we automatically qualify for the English Schools National Finals – a fantastic result for our team. Our Inter girls all had strong races in even muddier conditions and finished fourth overall, just missing out on a qualifying spot. Our Senior girls’ team were the last to race. Holly T (Upper 5) had a fantastic race finishing 12th overall in a very competitive field. Well done to all students who raced, it was a great day out for all teams. We look forward to cheering on our Junior Girls in the National Final in December.

Our Thirds and Lower 4s travelled to Harrow on Thursday to race in Harrows annual 10 School Cross-country Competition. This was the first race of the season for a lot of our athletes. They raced against Y7, 8 and 9 athletes around a tough course with multiple hills and mud. Well done to Gracie who was our first athlete to cross the line in an impressive 24th and congratulations to all our other runners who raced.

Netball

The U13A’s played Godolphin & Latymer in the Third round of the School Sport Magazine competition. The team showed great determination throughout the whole game. At half time, the score was 11-17 with Godolphin & Latymer leading, which did not stop LEH coming out strong and working hard to close the gap. Unfortunately, our opposition dug deep to keep the lead and took the win with the match finishing 16-26. Congratulations to Keziah who received MVP.

Our U13B-F teams also played Godolphin & Latymer in friendly matches with a mix of results. The teams all played very well, with some great attack and defence tactics. Well done to our MVPs:

B: 6-6 MVP Alice

C: 7-1 MVP Chloe

D: 4-9 MVP

E: 5-8 MVP Amarya

F: 1-4 MVP Aadya

The U16B’s took on Orleans Park school in the Borough league. The team worked hard by putting into practice what they have been working on in training. They started off strong taking the lead from the start, Orleans came back fighting after half-time, but the team were able to keep the lead and finished the game 22-18. Congratulations to Audrey who received MVP.

Our U16C team also played Orleans displaying some great skills.  It was a competitive match with the C team winning 25-18. Well done to MVP’s Amira & Lotte

Lacrosse

The LEH lacrosse teams hosted Queen Annes Caversham and Walthamstow Hall School on Saturday. The teams played brilliantly with some fantastic wins and close contests across the age groups. The teams are really starting to gel and taking what they learn in practices onto the pitch which is exciting to see.  We had 151 students representing LEH in the competitive matches! Well done to all and thank you to the parents who came and supported.

Trampolining

Six of our pupils across the school travelled to Chessington Sports Centre on Sunday to compete in the BSGA London Schools trampolining round. Our pupils competed in a variety of categories for their age range and ability, demonstrating excellent routines consistently. Our six pupils, Daisy (Thirds), Isla and Cecily (Upper 4), Catherine and Gia (Lower 5) and Asha (Upper 6), all completed their two routines very well and placed well in their groups.  We are delighted that Catherine finished third and Isla second in their age groups and have both qualified for the Southern Zonal competition in January and look forward to seeing them compete then.
