Junior Creative Arts

At LEH Junior School, the Creative Arts are an essential part of our curriculum and co-curricular life – offering every girl the chance to explore her imagination, build confidence and express herself in bold, exciting ways. Whether it’s through painting, performance or music-making, creativity flourishes here.

From cross-curricular arts weeks and enrichment days to our annual Arts Festival, creativity at LEH Junior School is celebrated at every turn. Whether your daughter is a budding musician, an expressive actor or a passionate young artist, she’ll find inspiration, encouragement and joy in the Creative Arts here.

Art and Design Technology

Art and Design Technology lessons take place in our specialist studio, where pupils experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques. From clay sculpture and printmaking to textiles and model-building, girls are encouraged to take risks, think innovatively and develop their individual artistic voice. Projects are often inspired by themes in history, nature or current events, helping pupils to make meaningful connections through their work.

Drama

Drama is another joyful and empowering part of life at LEH. Weekly lessons help pupils build essential skills in communication, collaboration and storytelling. Every girl takes part in lively classroom activities – from roleplay and improvisation to performance poetry and script work. Regular performance opportunities include class assemblies, themed workshops, Shakespeare productions and our much-loved Year 4 and Year 6 Drama Weeks, which culminate in vibrant stage productions led by our specialist Speech and Drama team.

Music

In Music, all pupils enjoy weekly lessons and are encouraged to sing, perform and create. Our unique brass programme allows every pupil in Year 3 to learn both the trumpet and trombone. Many go on to take individual instrumental lessons with our Visiting Music Teachers in instruments ranging from piano, harp and violin to flute, guitar and voice. There are multiple choirs, ensembles and clubs to join – and plenty of opportunities to perform at concerts, festivals, services and community events throughout the year.
