Stepping Back in Time: U2 Visit Butser Ancient Farm

Upper 2 travelled back in time on an exciting visit to Butser Ancient Farm, where they explored prehistoric life through ancient buildings, hands-on activities and fascinating archaeological discoveries.

Upper 2 (Year 6) enjoyed an exciting trip to Butser Ancient Farm, bringing their history learning out of the classroom and into the past.

During their visit, the girls explored reconstructed ancient buildings and discovered more about how people in prehistoric Britain lived, worked and built their homes. Being able to step inside these spaces offered a fascinating glimpse into everyday life thousands of years ago and helped bring their classroom learning vividly to life.

The day also gave the girls plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with history. Through practical activities and workshops, they explored ancient crafts and considered what archaeological discoveries can tell us about the people who lived before us.

Rather than simply reading about the past, the girls were able to experience elements of it first-hand, encouraging them to look closely, ask questions and think about the evidence historians and archaeologists use to build a picture of ancient life.

Working together throughout the activities also gave Upper 2 the chance to develop their teamwork, curiosity and historical understanding, while discovering just how resourceful people living in prehistoric Britain needed to be.

The visit was a wonderful opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom and immerse the girls in the period they have been studying. From exploring ancient homes to trying their hand at practical activities, there was plenty to spark their imaginations and deepen their understanding of the past.

It was a memorable day of discovery for Upper 2 and a fantastic way to experience history first-hand.
