From exciting victories in the pool and on the netball court to impressive performances in gymnastics and cross country, it has been a fantastic first half of term for sport in the Junior School.
It has been an action-packed start to the year for our Junior School sports teams, with pupils representing LEH across swimming, netball, gymnastics and cross country. Throughout the half term, the girls have demonstrated determination, teamwork and enthusiasm, with plenty of successes to celebrate.
Swimming Success
The swimming squad made a brilliant start to their competitive season with their first gala of the year against Kew on Friday 9 October.
The girls gave their all in the pool and produced a fantastic team performance, securing an impressive 227–200 victory. It was a wonderful result and a great reflection of the effort and commitment shown by the whole squad.
Swimming Captain Madelyn was delighted with the result, describing it as an “absolutely fantastic win” and congratulating everyone involved in bringing home the victory.
A Winning Start for U10 Netball
There was plenty of excitement on the netball courts too, as the Lower 2 U10 teams welcomed Old Vicarage School to LEH on Thursday 8 October for their first year-group matches of the season.
The girls focused on driving forward to receive the ball, working together as a team and confidently managing their roles across the court. Their teamwork was rewarded with an excellent set of results.
The A team won 9–2, the B team secured a 10–2 victory, the C team won 4–2, while the D team finished with a 1–1 draw.
With some excellent shooting and steady defending on display, it was a very encouraging opening to the season for all four teams.
Gymnasts Take to the Floor
Our gymnasts were also in action for their first competition of the year, travelling to Notre Dame on Thursday 15 October.
The girls performed individual routines as well as taking part in the vault competition, executing their performances with confidence and precision. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to put their training into practice and showcase the hard work and dedication they have already demonstrated this year.
Congratulations to all our squad gymnasts on a brilliant first competition.
Cross Country Determination
Lower 2 pupils also put their speed and endurance to the test at the LEH Cross Country feeder competition.
Bella, Maizie, Imogen and Pola represented the school, taking on a 1km relay circuit and producing a fantastic performance. The girls showed excellent determination and endurance as they represented LEH.
A Fantastic Half Term of Sport
From the pool and netball court to the gymnastics floor and cross country course, it has been a busy and rewarding half term for Junior School sport.
Most importantly, the girls have represented LEH with pride, enthusiasm and determination throughout, supporting one another and embracing every opportunity to compete, develop their skills and enjoy their sport.
Well done to everyone who has trained, competed and represented the school this half term. What a fantastic start to the sporting year!
