Lacrosse and netball teams return to competition, while our Year 11 pupils are inspired at the Girls Go Gold Conference
It has been a fantastic start to the sporting season at LEH, with students embracing competitive fixtures, developing their skills and building strong team connections. From exciting opening matches in lacrosse and netball to an inspiring day at Loughborough University for our U5 GCSE PE pupils, there has been plenty to celebrate both on and off the pitch.
Lacrosse
LEH v Putney High School
The LEH lacrosse teams played their first block fixture of the season this weekend. The players dusted off their sticks, laced up their boots, tightened their goggles and put on the red and white to host Putney High School. The teams all started with a bang. All the games were close affairs with great individual and team play. The bright start to the season bodes well for the future and we look forward to the development of the students and their teams. Well done to all and thank you to the coaches and parents.
Berko 10s Pre-season Tournament
Our 1st and 2nd teams travelled up to Berkhamsted for the Berko 10s Pre-season Tournament. The tournament is used as a warm up for the season ahead and to sharpen the skills of the players. Both teams played some wonderful lacrosse while learning to play with each other thus starting the team gelling. Lessons were learnt and lacrosse was played. Well done to all who played in the red and white. Special mention to our new senior players from Upper 5 who all stepped up and looked like they have been playing senior lacrosse already.

Sisters n Sport
Our U14s delivered an excellent performance in their first game of the Sisters n Sport netball competition against North London Collegiate School. Although they started a little unsettled, they quickly found their rhythm and finished the first quarter with an impressive 11-2 lead. The team showed great composure and teamwork throughout the remainder of the game, securing a convincing 33-5 victory. Congratulations to Genevieve and Alice on being named Players of the Match. Their contributions played a key role in a fantastic team performance. Well done to all who played!
The Senior 1st netball team faced St George’s School, Weybridge, in their first round of the Sisters n Sport cup competition on Wednesday. After a busy start to the year, the team managed to work hard and come together in a short space of time to best prepare for the game. With intense defensive pressure and the attack building connections throughout, the team managed to secure a 22-12 win. This sees them progress to Round 2 and positively kick off the season. Well done to the opponent’s player of the match, Amelia V and coach’s player of the match Amelia B.
Our U13 team played Kingston Grammar School in the first round of the Sisters n Sport competition on Thursday. This was our first match of the season, so it was good to get back into competitive mode after a long summer break. The girls played some fantastic netball, with some sharp shooting from our shooters. We came away with a great win – 36-15. Congratulations to Cleo who was awarded Player of the Match.
LEH v Godolphin and Latymer School
The Senior 1sts, 3rds and U16B hosted Godolphin and Latymer School for netball fixtures after school on Thursday. The match was the first game of the season for many and it was great to get out there and dust off some cobwebs and find connections with the team again. The Senior 1sts came away with a convincing win, well done to the player of the match Amelia V. The Senior 3rd team and the U16B team played well but came away with a loss overall. They picked up on various positive aspects of the matches and took some good ideas away with them for our future games. Well done to the players of the matches, Miranda, Allegra and Kitty.
Girls Go Gold Conference
Our Year 11 GCSE PE pupils travelled to Loughborough University for the Girls Go Gold Conference on Thursday. It was a fantastic day with inspiring talks from athletes, including Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Jazmin Sawyers. The pupils chose from a variety of sports and activities to participate in, as well as selected sport education lectures, including Life as a Student Athlete, Careers Beyond the Game and The Future of Sport Technology.
The group were also spoken to by a panel of university students who are achieving highly in their chosen sports. This was a fantastic day for our pupils, engaging in a variety of team, leadership and individual learning environments.
