Celebrating academic success and much more: A level results 2026
We are delighted to be celebrating academic success and much more today, as the Class of 2026 reflects on another exceptional year of A level results and wider achievements.
Students delivered outstanding results across the board, eclipsing last year’s already excellent performance. Overall, in 2026, LEH students achieved:
39% A*
78% A*–A
95% A*–B
Results for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) were equally impressive, with 91% of grades awarded at A*–A.
These exceptional results reflect the talent, dedication and ambition of LEH students, alongside the commitment and support of their teachers and the wider school community.
But excellence at LEH has never belonged exclusively to the classroom. We are exceptionally proud of our students who continue to challenge the idea that academic ambition and achievement need to come at the expense of other passions in life that bring us joy.
Among those collecting results today are members of the team crowned National Schools Lacrosse Champions, including captain Molly, who achieved straight A* grades and vice-captain Kiki, who achieved two A*s and an A; alongside Alice, who achieved straight As while competing internationally as an alpine skier; and rower Maddie, who achieved two A*s and two As and represented Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse, returning with two gold medals this summer.
Physicist and competitive cheerleader and tumbler Polina achieved straight A*s, alongside a Gold Award in the national British Physics Olympiad, while also competing at the Cheerleading Worlds in Florida earlier this year.
Across the Class of 2026 are performers, musicians, artists, athletes, scientists, writers and leaders. We could not be prouder of their achievements – or of the wonderfully diverse forms that their success has taken.
The breadth of courses and universities LEH students are heading to reflects the exciting range of opportunities ahead. From Harriet, who will study Animation at Falmouth University, Isabella, who will pursue Civil Engineering at UCL, and Hanna, who will study International Liberal Arts at Waseda University in Japan, to Ursula, who will study Medicine at Glasgow, Freya, who will read Chemistry at Oxford, and Tilly, who plans to study Economics at Brown University in the US, our students are embarking on an impressive variety of paths.
Our students’ overall success reflects a school culture in which girls are encouraged to take the things that interest them seriously – and are given the opportunity to discover just how far they can go.
There is a phrase that has particular resonance at LEH this year: ‘the longer the string, the higher the kite flies.’ It was the mantra adopted by the LEH U19 lacrosse team on their journey to becoming National Schools Champions.
For Head, Rowena Cole, it also captures something special and unique about the culture at LEH School:
“I love that phrase, because these girls have demonstrated exactly what it means. Academic excellence matters at LEH. We want girls to think hard, to question, to explore ideas and to discover just how intellectually capable they are. Today’s results are an outstanding reflection of that.
“But we don’t believe academic achievement comes from making your world smaller. Quite the opposite: we want our girls’ worlds to be as big, exciting and diverse as possible.
“The Class of 2026 embodies this spirit brilliantly. They haven’t simply participated; they have worked hard and excelled – academically, creatively, on stage, on the water and on the sports field.
“I’m proud that everyone at LEH – our teachers and staff, together with our wonderful parent community – has helped to lengthen the string, giving our students the confidence and freedom to see just how high they can fly.
“Most importantly, they leave us as happy, interesting and interested young women. They know their own minds, are prepared to challenge ideas and are ready to take their next steps with ambition and determination.
“Their A levels open the next door, and I couldn’t be more excited to see where they go when they stride through it.”
