Double Trophy Triumph at the Bedford Regatta

The Bedford Regatta

There were no lie-ins for our J14 and J15 rowing squads this weekend as an early morning start saw them travel to Bedford for a thrilling day of competition at the Bedford Regatta. Racing began shortly after 8am, but the early wake-up call did little to slow the crews, who delivered a series of impressive performances across a packed schedule of events.

One of the standout moments of the day came in a dramatic showdown between the J14 B and C octuples. In a fiercely contested race, the B boat narrowly pulled ahead in the closing stages to secure a place in the final setting up an exciting all-school clash against the A octuple. The A crew rose to the occasion, producing a commanding performance to claim victory and lift the trophy.

The J15 squad also faced stiff competition from local rivals Latymer Upper and Wimbledon High throughout the regatta. Among the highlights was a superb win for the J15 4+ crew of Emmie, Georgie, Charlie, Harbaani and Maudie, whose determined and polished performance saw them power to victory and bring home another trophy for the team.

With strong results across the board, it proved to be a hugely successful and memorable day for LEH rowing. Attention now turns to another busy weekend of racing, with crews preparing for Thames Ditton and the National Schools’ Regatta in Nottingham, while the J13 squad gets ready to take on tough opposition at the Maidenhead Regatta, their first rowing competition.

LEH Rowing

Rowing at LEH is more than a sport, it’s a close-knit community built on trust, dedication, and teamwork.

LEH Boat Club (LEHBC) is one of the top girls’ rowing programmes in the country winning medals every year at the Scullery, Schools Head and the National Schools Regatta. We regularly qualify a boat for Henley Royal Regatta and have girls attend GB Trials every year with girls often representing Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse and Junior World Championships. Through access to top-class facilities and expert coaching, our rowers experience personal growth, resilience, and a winning mindset from Year 8 through to Sixth Form. Along their journey, they will understand what it’s like to be part of a team where every single girl is backing each other, and themselves.

Joining the rowing club means forging lasting friendships and embracing accountability, both on and off the water. Our supportive coaches guide every athlete, making each session a chance to improve skills and build confidence in a welcoming environment. We’re passionate about making rowing accessible to all pupils, offering fun, inclusive activities that spark enthusiasm regardless of experience.
