It has been another busy and successful week of sport at LEH, with pupils representing the school with tremendous enthusiasm, determination and skill across a wide range of fixtures and competitions. From national success in gymnastics and strong performances on the tennis courts, to promising athletics results and exciting cricket matches, our athletes have continued to demonstrate excellent teamwork, resilience and sporting spirit. We are incredibly proud of all the pupils who competed and represented LEH so brilliantly throughout the week.
Gymnastics
Congratulations to Polina P (Upper 6) and Isabella D (Year 9) on their fantastic achievement in being selected to represent the London Regional Tumbling Team at the BSGA 2026 National Milano Finals, held on Sunday at Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-on-Trent.
Both gymnasts earned their place at this prestigious school’s event by finishing in the top two in their respective age groups at the regional rounds, progressing to compete against the very best tumblers from across Great Britain. The competition featured four age categories, with Isabella competing in the U16 section (against gymnasts two years older than herself) and Polina in the U19s.
With valuable experience behind them, this being Polina’s fourth consecutive selection and Isabella’s second, both athletes approached the competition with confidence and composure. Delivering three impressive tumbling passes each, they represented themselves and LEH with great skill and determination. Polina achieved an outstanding Silver Medal, while Isabella delivered a strong performance to place 13th nationally!
These results are a testament not only to their talent and dedication, but also to the strength of gymnastics at LEH. We are incredibly proud of both gymnasts. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Polina for her exceptional contribution to gymnastics at LEH over the years and wish her every success as she embarks on the next exciting stage of her university journey.
Tennis
LEH v Godolphin & Latymer
On Thursday, LEH took five U14 pairs, and six U12 pairs to play Godolphin & Latymer in a friendly tennis fixture. This was an exciting night for our U12s, many of whom were representing LEH for the first time in a tennis fixture. All pairs played some excellent tennis against very strong opposition and overall, it was a fantastic learning experience; playing against different competitors, with new partners, on a new surface!
A special mention goes to our U12 pair, Emily and Clara, who came from three games down to draw 4 all. Our U14s also had some very closely contested games against equally strong competition. They played some clever, fiercely competitive games, well done to Pairs 1,3, and 5 for winning their respective matches. Overall, it was a great friendly tennis fixture, and we look forward to the tennis season ahead.
LEH v Notting Hill and Ealing High School
We also had a home Division 1 league match against Notting Hill and Ealing High School for our 7/8 and 9/10 teams. The league match consists of playing a set of singles and doubles. Our 9/10 team had a fantastic start to the season winning all of their matches and only dropping seven games from a total 36. Our 7/8 had a tough start to a very strong opposition team. The matches were highly competitive and went to the wire. Unfortunately, we lost 10 rubbers to 2. Congratulations to the 9/10 team, Sofia, Emily, Brischelle and Isabella and to our 7/8 teams Aanya, Soraya, Sanaz and Jane.
Athletics
On Thursday, our Year 9 and Year 10 athletes competed at the Claremont Fan Court School friendly athletics meet. The pupils took part in both track and field events, showcasing some fantastic techniques in the throws and jumping events and good times on the track. This provided some good practice for the upcoming Track & Field Cup next week. We are awaiting on overall results and well done to all the pupils on representing LEH so well!
Cricket
The U13s and U15 cricket teams played Kingston Grammar on Saturday. The U13s had a competitive match and close game with players showing tremendous growth in their bowling and batting. Wickets were taken and runs were scored with each member of the team contributing to their positive performance. This was a close loss overall for the team but well done to all who played.
The U15 team played well as a unit, with strong performances from the bowling attack keeping the runs low for the opposition. The openers closed in on the chase with smart and efficient batting, securing good runs and earning a good win. Well done to both teams on some great match play overall.
