Perse Coding Team Challenge: Round 2

Round 2 of the Perse Coding Team Challenge raised the bar once again, with students now tackling the programming challenges in trios. The team rules added an extra twist, no more than two Year 11 pupils per group, leading to some creative team forming, light hearted bribery, and strategic ‘jiggery pokery’. Happily, it all paid off.
Seven trios stepped up to the challenge, and every team performed superbly as the difficulty increased significantly from Round 1. The standard of teamwork, problem solving, and perseverance on display was excellent throughout.

Top honours went to Team Golden Ducks, featuring familiar Year 11 faces Freya and Anoushka, alongside an outstanding contribution from Year 7 pupil, Sophie, who more than held her own in excellent fashion. A huge well done as well to Team Number 1 (Isla, Gece and Anika), who secured second place.

Congratulations to all those who took part. We now eagerly await the results of the Raspberry Pi Coding Challenge, which followed shortly after.

Raspberry Pi Coding Challenge Results

This year’s Raspberry Pi Coding Challenge saw an impressive 33 students from across all year groups take part, tackling a demanding set of programming tasks that tested algorithmic thinking, accuracy, and perseverance. Participation was strong across the school, with our overall performance sitting well above both London and national averages, a reflection of real depth in coding confidence.

Congratulations to our four top scorers: Amira, Isabelle, Anoushka and Audrey, who all achieved a perfect score of 52, sharing the accolade of Best in School.

Once again. particular praise must go to Sophie (Year 7), who achieved an outstanding 50, earning a Distinction and finishing just behind the top scorers. This remarkable result highlights the strength of programming skills developing lower down the school and continues a series of standout performances from Sophie in recent competitions.
Across the cohort, there was a healthy spread of Distinctions and Merits, showing resilience and determination even when full marks proved elusive.

Well done to all students who took part, your enthusiasm and commitment to coding are skills are admirable.
