Celebrating the National Year of Reading

We are delighted to be celebrating the National Year of Reading with a range of activities designed to inspire a love of books and reading across the school community.

To mark the start of the year, pupils have been adding the titles of books they have been enjoying to the noticeboard outside the library. Sharing what we are reading has already sparked conversations and curiosity, reminding us that a recommendation from a friend is often the best way to discover a new favourite book.

Alongside this, we have launched our Reading Mission for 2026, encouraging pupils to challenge themselves to read 26 books over the course of the year. By sharing book titles, swapping recommendations and celebrating reading together, we hope to make reading a joyful and shared experience for everyone.

We look forward to seeing the noticeboard continue to grow and to celebrating our pupils’ reading achievements throughout the year.
