LEH’s Write the Girl Heads North

We were delighted to head up to Bolton School on Friday for the latest Write the Girl production. The Glorious Chickmans, written by playwright, Ben Cain and commissioned by Bolton School puts the female characters front on centre with a festive twist.

Established by the Drama Department at LEH, Write the Girl is a nationwide initiative to promote equality in the arts. This production was the first to be commissioned by a school outside London. LEH Director of Drama, Sophie Torrent went to the show and commented, “it was wonderful to see the pupils so engaged in the story and with so many wonderful parts for girls. The production was the epitome of what Write the Girl stands for, and it was so wonderful to see what it meant to both pupils and staff. Thank you Bolton School much for a warm welcome!”

Ms Talbot, Director of Drama at Bolton School commented, “The ideals of the Write the Girl project have been at the heart of our collective endeavour as we have forged memories, which will last a lifetime.”
