On Wednesday, our Upper 2 pupils enjoyed an inspiring trip into London, visiting the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe. The visit was designed to support their learning across English, Drama and Art, giving pupils the opportunity to experience world-class art and explore the history of one of London’s most iconic theatres.
At Tate Modern, pupils explored a range of Nigerian modern artworks, linking closely with their current studies in Art. The visit encouraged them to look closely at sculpture, illustration and mixed-media works, considering how artists use colour, detail and materials to communicate ideas and tell stories.
The group then visited Shakespeare’s Globe, where pupils learned about the fascinating history of the theatre and its connection to the work of William Shakespeare. They also took part in an engaging workshop that brought Shakespearean performance to life and deepened their understanding of how plays were staged in Elizabethan times.
During the journey, pupils were also able to take in some of London’s most famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral and the London Eye.
The trip offered a memorable day of learning beyond the classroom, allowing pupils to connect their studies in art, literature and drama with the rich cultural landscape of London.
