Promoting a lifelong love of learning

At LEH, we believe in stretching young minds. Our students are gently encouraged to go beyond the national curriculum, to explore ideas in greater depth, and to follow their curiosity wherever it leads. Whether it’s through lively discussions, creative problem-solving, independent projects, or thoughtful debate, we help them develop the confidence to think critically, ask questions, and form their own opinions. Academic challenge here doesn’t mean stress – it means stimulation. It’s part of the distinctive atmosphere you’ll find throughout our school: one of relaxed excellence, where ambition is celebrated, happiness is nurtured, and laughter is never far from learning.

Encouraging curiosity, not perfection

We give every pupil the tools and confidence to take ownership of their learning. From the very start, lessons are designed to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. Teachers are expert and reflective of their classroom practice, always considering how best to meet the needs of every pupil in their classrooms.

We foster a growth mindset in every classroom: mistakes are not setbacks, but springboards. Instead of focusing on grades, where appropriate we use ‘Comment Only’ marking and other strategies to ensure that pupils view their learning as a journey. It is not about achieving perfect outcomes in every piece of work. Instead, mistakes are something to be learnt from and feedback from teachers encourages deeper thinking and subject mastery as pupils develop their expertise.

An engaging curriculum

From the start of Senior School, pupils dive into a rich and varied curriculum designed to spark ideas, stretch thinking, and unlock potential.

Middle School

The Middle School curriculum is a rich array of subjects. Delivered within an academic environment, the curriculum, celebrates achievement, recognises effort and encourages pupils to be resilient and courageous learners. It offers opportunities for all pupils to acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills with elements that are linguistic, mathematical, scientific, human and social, technological, physical and aesthetic and creative.

Upper 4 (Year 9) Options

When pupils are in Lower Four (Year 8) they make some choices about subjects they wish to study the following year in Upper Four (Year 9). If they make the decision to do a particular course in Upper Four, they do not have to continue with the course at GCSE.

The GCSE Years

When it’s time to choose GCSEs, your daughter can build a study programme of a broad and balanced spread of subjects that reflects her strengths, interests, and ambitions. Most pupils study ten subjects, including English and Mathematics, at least one modern language, a humanities subject and sciences – either combined or separate. She’ll be supported by her Form Tutor and our Careers & Futures Department to make informed choices and be inspired to follow wherever her curiosity leads.

Beyond the Classroom

Support Every Step of the Way

We believe that happiness and achievement happen when challenge is balanced with care. Our students are supported through every twist and turn of their school journey and beyond. Weekly Life Advice lessons give them the tools to navigate life’s complexities with confidence and clarity. Expert guest speakers broaden their perspectives on a wide range of topics supporting resilience and mental wellbeing.

By the time they leave us, our students are more than ready for what comes next. They have the courage to think for themselves, the skills to back it up, and the drive to make a difference.
