Rowing at LEH is more than a sport – it’s a close-knit community built on trust, dedication, and teamwork. With access to top-class facilities and expert coaching, our rowers experience personal growth, resilience, and a winning mindset from Year 8 (Lower 4) through to Sixth Form. Along their journey, they will form friendships, develop a winning mindset, and understand what it’s like to be part of a team where every single girl is backing each other, and themselves.

Joining the rowing club means forging lasting friendships and embracing accountability, both on and off the water. Our supportive coaches guide every athlete, making each session a chance to improve skills and build confidence in a welcoming environment. We’re passionate about making rowing accessible to all pupils, offering fun, inclusive activities that spark enthusiasm regardless of experience.

Our Boathouse

We share a Boathouse with Hampton School. This state-of-the-art facility is just a short 5-minute drive from the school, meaning there is no time wasted getting on the water. We row on a wonderful stretch of the river boasting flat, uninterrupted water housing our large selection of racing boats and a fully equipped strength and conditioning gym.

Our Coaches

We are proud to boast some of the best coaches in the business. Our Head of Rowing, Abby Johnston, rowed the Atlantic in December 2021 as one-third of team ExtraOARdinary, breaking the world record by seven days! This was following an already impressive showing in the Pacific in the Clipper Round the World Race 2017/18. Abby brings an enormous amount of dedication, enthusiasm and motivation to our rowers, leading by example.

Our team of coaching staff are there for each club member, combining a programme of skills training, hard work and specific support. Every session there’s something new to be learned, within an atmosphere where the girls tell us they can’t wait to come back and learn more.

Hampton & Lady Eleanor Holles Schools Boat Club Association (HLBCA)

The HLBCA adds a vibrant social and fundraising dimension, bringing together rowers, families, and coaches in a strong support network. It is a friendly committee of volunteer parents, always keen to welcome new members. If you’d like to get involved and support your rower behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you! Also check out our Twitter feed for the latest news on events and meets.

With a lively calendar including many exciting fundraising events, the Association ensures everyone involved with rowing at LEH is supported and can feel part of the community.
