Sixth Form FAQs

Q: When should I apply to join the Sixth Form?

A: Applications are accepted from April of the year preceding the proposed year of entry and must be received by Tuesday 6th October 2026 for entry in September 2027. If you missed the deadline and are still interested in entry in September 2026, please contact the Admissions department for advice.

Q: What format do the assessments take for entry at Sixth Form?

A: All candidates are considered on the basis of their performance in the admissions process and offers are conditional on GCSE results. For entry into the Sixth Form all students will complete an online aptitude test and a stimulus response paper. Our stimulus response requires no preparation but uses general GCSE skill sets. Students will use these skills to demonstrate their ability to respond insightfully to a range of stimuli.

Q: Will you contact my daughter’s current school, and if so, when?

A: For entry at 16 Plus into the Sixth Form we request this reference before the entrance examination in early November.

Q: Do you give extra time to girls with special educational needs (SEN)?

A: If your daughter has a documented special educational need please send a copy of the educational psychologist’s report with your application. If the report recommends additional time in the entrance examination, then this will be offered in line with any regulations covering such areas. Please do get in touch with the Registrar if there are any specific issues affecting your daughter’s application before the entrance examination.

Q: When can I apply for a Bursary place?

A: Financial support may be available to candidates applying to join the Sixth Form.  You should indicate on your application form if you wish to apply for a Bursary. Our Finance Team will be in contact with you in the Autumn Term to give you access to the online Bursary application forms.

Q: How do I apply for an Academic Scholarship?

A: All candidates who complete the entrance examinations at 16 Plus are automatically considered for academic scholarships.

Q: How do I apply for a Music Scholarship?

A: You should indicate on your application form if you wish to apply for a Music Scholarship and complete the online form together with any supporting references from music teachers. Candidates may be invited for a music audition after completing the academic selection stage of the admissions process.

Q: Are there other scholarships available?

A: At 16+ there are Art, Drama, STEM and Sports scholarships available for both external Sixth Form applicants and existing pupils. Candidates for the Art Scholarship must study Art A level. Candidates for the STEM Scholarships must study one or more STEM subjects at A level.

Q: Where do students go when they leave LEH?

A: We take great pride in our sixth form students, who go on to pursue a diverse range of prestigious university placements and distinguished career opportunities, including internships both in the UK and abroad. Many of our students secure places at Russell Group universities, while others choose to study overseas. Their academic pursuits span a wide spectrum of disciplines, including medicine, engineering, politics, sciences and Classics, amongst others.
