Promoting a lifelong love of learning
At LEH, we believe in stretching young minds. Our students are gently encouraged to go beyond the national curriculum, to explore ideas in greater depth, and to follow their curiosity wherever it leads. Whether it’s through lively discussions, creative problem-solving, independent projects, or thoughtful debate, we help them develop the confidence to think critically, ask questions, and form their own opinions. Academic challenge here doesn’t mean stress – it means stimulation. It’s part of the distinctive atmosphere you’ll find throughout our school: one of relaxed excellence, where ambition is celebrated, happiness is nurtured, and laughter is never far from learning.
Encouraging curiosity, not perfection
We give every pupil the tools and confidence to take ownership of their learning. From the very start, lessons are designed to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. Teachers are expert and reflective of their classroom practice, always considering how best to meet the needs of every pupil in their classrooms.
We foster a growth mindset in every classroom: mistakes are not setbacks, but springboards. Instead of focusing on grades, where appropriate we use ‘Comment Only’ marking and other strategies to ensure that pupils view their learning as a journey. It is not about achieving perfect outcomes in every piece of work. Instead, mistakes are something to be learnt from and feedback from teachers encourages deeper thinking and subject mastery as pupils develop their expertise.
