Students and staff were delighted to hear from published author and LEH alumna, Sarah Govett for an engaging lunchtime talk today.
Sarah shared insights into her career as a writer, offering a fascinating look at her journey from publishing successful young adult novels to releasing her first adult fiction work, Believe. She spoke candidly about the challenges and opportunities involved in transitioning between genres, and how her writing has evolved over time.
Students were particularly interested to hear about her experience working beyond novels, including writing a screenplay for Netflix. This provided a valuable glimpse into the wider world of storytelling and the different paths a writing career can take.
Throughout the talk, Sarah offered practical advice for aspiring writers, emphasising the importance of perseverance, creativity and finding your own voice. She also reflected on the realities of the publishing industry, giving students an honest and informative perspective on what it takes to succeed.
The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where students asked thoughtful questions about her books, writing process and career highlights. It was a fantastic opportunity for those interested in writing, publishing and the creative industries to gain first-hand insight from an experienced author.
