Pi Day, celebrated annually on 14 March, has once again brought a week of mathematical fun and curiosity to the Maths Department. Across a range of lessons and clubs, students embraced activities inspired by the famous irrational number.
Our Year 7 Maths club, nQuire, explored the first 100 digits of Pi through a series of engaging challenges, while the Year 8 and 9 Maths club, nRich, took on a lively Pi-themed relay race, solving problems at speed and in teams. Adding to the festivities, our wonderful Catering Department delighted us all with beautifully prepared, Pi‑shaped cookies – much appreciated by students and staff alike.
During the STEM Fair, we also ran the much‑loved ‘Draw a Perfect Circle’ competition, where over 150 students from LEH, along with participants from Hampton Prep and Twickenham Prep, attempted the impressive task of drawing a perfect freehand circle. We saw some incredibly precise entries, and we are pleased to announce winners from each year group:
Year 6: Naya A and Emily S 95%
Year 7: Charlotte F 94.5%
Year 8: Emmeline G 94.2%
Year 9: Alisa S 96.5%
Year 10: Zoe H 94.7%
Year 11: Olivia C 97.4%
Lower 6: Rachel L 96.8%
Well done to all who participated and a special thank you to Effie R, Year 8, who helped the Maths teachers run this competition.
