Our pupils have excelled in this year’s Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge, with every age group performing significantly above both national and London averages. This exceptional outcome is particularly impressive given the scale and difficulty of the competition, which assesses pupils’ abilities in logical reasoning, pattern recognition and problem-solving under pressure.
This year, over 400 pupils took part, representing every year group and demonstrating tremendous commitment and enthusiasm. De Vere House earned the overall award for the highest average score, highlighting not only strong individual performances but also excellent teamwork.
A special commendation goes to Tianqi L and Lily S, who achieved perfect scores in the Junior category – a remarkable accomplishment that reflects their precision, creativity and resilience. Across all key stages, we also saw a large number of Gold Award results (Top 10% nationally), placing our pupils well above the national picture.
We are incredibly proud of the collective effort shown by all involved in this year’s challenge and look forward to building on this momentum. Results from the Year 8 CyberFirst Girls Competition are expected soon, and pupils are already preparing for the Perse Coding Challenge in January and Bebras’s own Coding Challenge in March.
It is an exciting and inspiring time for Computing at our school, and we can’t wait to see what our pupils achieve next.
