Sport Update, w/c 21 November 2025

It has been a vibrant and action-packed few weeks in Sport at LEH, with pupils across the school embracing a wide range of opportunities to learn, compete and showcase their talents.

Education in Sport

Team PEBE joined us last week and delivered educational workshops to all our pupils across the school on sports bras and breast health in physical activity. We have had a lot of positive feedback on the talks and opportunity to be measured and fitted which has been really helpful. The talks were full of vital information which we hope has aided your child with insight on how to support themselves in physical activity and given them confidence in participating in various sports comfortably.

Football

Our U12/Thirds football team had their first football match of the year against Hampton High School last Friday. The team have been preparing for this very well and showed fantastic enthusiasm throughout the match. It was a competitive game with some brilliant patches of play, both defensively and attacking. Our Goal Keeper made some fantastic saves throughout the game and the team showed some very good teamwork throughout. It was a narrow loss for LEH in the end but a fantastic match overall and a first for our team!  Well done to all on a great first match and we are looking forward to developing their skills further.

Lacrosse

On Saturday, the LEH lacrosse teams took to the field for their last home game of 2025 against St Paul’s Girls’ School in a local match-up.  With the immaculate pitches and a warmer temperature to play in, we had eight victories and some very tight games that could have gone either way.  The teams put a great LEH effort in with slick teamwork and it was great to have so many pupils playing and demonstrating their skills across the year groups. Thank you also for the fantastic parent support coming from pitch side!

Netball

Our U16A team travelled to South Hampstead High School on Thursday to play in the Sisters n Sport last 16. After a long journey, the team prepared themselves well and took to the court. It was a tough first quarter, but the team dug dip and pulled themselves back into the match. Our shooters shot fantastically and from good distance throughout the game with our mid-court and defence working tirelessly to secure possession. Sadly, we lost the match, but the team played very well and should be proud of their performance overall.

Our U15A team played in the next round of the School Sport Magazine competition. They played against Putney High School in a competitive match. We sadly lost this game overall, despite some brilliant defence and turnovers.

Cross-Country

Last week our athletes raced around a sunny Bushy Park in the annual Richmond Schools Borough Cross-Country competition. Our Thirds, Junior Girls (Lower 4 and Upper 4) and Inter Girls (Lower 5 and Upper 5) raced against the best athletes in the Borough for a place in the Middlesex Schools Championships in February. The Thirds’ race was the first race of the day, Arabella set the tone for the day leading from gun to tape to take the first win of the day, Sofia also had a fantastic run finishing fourth and Graice finishing 10th. Congratulations to all our Thirds who ran who finished second as a team.

The Junior Girls were next, running in the biggest field of the day. An outstanding individual performance came from Alice B who finished third and Eloise who finished eighth. Congratulations to all the Lower 4s and Upper 4s who finished second in the team results. The penultimate race of the day was our Inter Girls, all pupils showed excellent determination and all produced fantastic personal performances, resulting in an overall first place for the team. Congratulations to Holly and Isla (Upper 5) who finished inside the top 8 to qualify for the Middlesex Championships.

Well done to all athletes, what a fantastic term of running!

Swimming

LEH was invited to compete in the ACS Cobham International Swimming Cup on 20th November. This newly established competition saw teams from across London, Surrey and further afield compete in heats and finals in very competitive middle school and high school divisions. In order to field a full team, four of our middle schoolers competed in the high school division and nearly made the finals in several events – huge well done to Ananya, Annabel, Cynthia and Cadence for competing brilliantly against older swimmers.

LEH came away with lots of medals, including two golds (Alice in 50 back and 50 free); three silvers (Francesca 50 back, Alice 100IM and Natalie 50 Fly) and three bronze (Natalie 100IM, Sophia 50 breast, Ginny 50 free).

Well done to all who competed!
