Fifteen enthusiastic LEH delegates (Upper 4 (Year 9) – Upper 6 and one Lower 4 (Year 8) represented the delegations of France, Sierra Leone and Yemen debating and passing resolutions and amendments on the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, peace in Palestine, AI in the workforce and its impact on the environment, water security on the Nile, women’s rights in Afghanistan, nuclear non-proliferation in the Middle East, tackling illicit drugs trade as well as the question of autonomous lethal systems.
Pupils were also treated to a stimulating speech by keynote speaker: Senior economist Dr. Kevin Daly of Goldman Sachs who shared his views on the causes and consequences of populism and its impact on the economy today.
Our LEH delegates represented bold voices in their respective committees and were clearly undaunted when putting their points forward convincingly and passionately. We are especially delighted to announce the below delegate awards.
Only one Best Delegate and Highly Commended Delegate accolade were awarded per committee (comprising of around 35-40 delegates each) so this is a very impressive accomplishment for our LEH pupils:
Maya L, Upper 6 – Best Delegate Award for Yemen (Environmental and Technology EVTECH Committee)
Amy Z, Upper 5 – Best Delegate Award for France (Social Issues and Human Rights SOHUR Committee)
Iris F, Upper 5 – Best Delegate Award for France (Security Council)
Kiara P, Upper 6 – Highly Commended Delegate Award for Yemen (Economic and Social ECOSOC Committee).
Well done to all the students involved and to Mr Aguilan, Head of Modern Foreign Languages who organised LEH attending the event.
